Fantastic Mr. Fox is a 2009 American stop-motion animated comedy directed by Wes Anderson, based on Roald Dahl's 1970 children's novel. George Clooney voices Mr.
Fox, a retired chicken thief who has settled into a comfortable domestic life with his wife Felicity, voiced by Meryl Streep, and their sullen teenage son Ash. When Mr. Fox's irrepressible criminal instincts lead him to plan one last heist against three of the meanest farmers in the valley โ Boggis, Bunce, and Bean โ the resulting retaliation threatens the entire animal community.
Wes Anderson's first animated film translated his distinctive visual style โ symmetrical compositions, lateral tracking shots, warm autumnal colors, and fastidious production design โ into stop-motion animation with remarkable success, creating a handcrafted world of miniature sets, real fur, and fabric that felt both sophisticated and charmingly imperfect. The voice cast also included Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, and Owen Wilson. Fantastic Mr.
Fox earned $46 million worldwide on a $40 million budget and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature.
