The legal stuff. Please read before using ThumbScore.

Welcome to ThumbScore (the "Site"). By accessing or using thumbscore.net, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Site.

1. Site Purpose and Limitations

ThumbScore is an informational directory and search engine designed to help users discover movies, view audience and critic scores, and find streaming availability. It also has a free rating app at thumbscore.net/rate, where you can rate films and get your own predicted scores.

The Site is provided for general entertainment and informational purposes only. We do not host, upload, or broadcast any unauthorized copyrighted video content on our servers. Trailers and streaming links are provided by third-party platforms (e.g., YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, Tubi); free films open on those platforms, not on ThumbScore.

2. Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, the entertainment landscape changes rapidly.

• Streaming Availability: The availability of movies on platforms like Netflix, HBO Max, or Tubi changes constantly. We do not guarantee that a movie will be available on the platform indicated at the time of your visit.
• Pricing: Any rental or purchase prices indicated are estimates and are subject to change by the respective streaming providers without notice.
• Scores and Ratings: Google's audience scores are an archive and no longer change; the scores estimated for newer films, critic scores and streaming information come from other sources and may change. We make no warranties regarding the absolute accuracy of these metrics.
• Your Predicted Scores: A predicted score is an estimate made by an AI model (Claude, from Anthropic) from your own ratings and the words you wrote. It can be wrong, and it is a suggestion about a film, nothing more.

You acknowledge that any reliance on the information provided on ThumbScore is at your own risk.

3. Affiliate Link Disclosure

ThumbScore is a non-commercial project. It runs no affiliate programmes, earns no commission from any link, and accepts no advertising or sponsorship.

4. Intellectual Property and Attribution

The original layout, design, text (including blog articles and custom descriptions), and code of ThumbScore are the property of ThumbScore and are protected by copyright laws.

Third-Party Data and APIs:

• TMDB (The Movie Database): This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. We rely on TMDB for movie metadata, posters, and cast information.
• Wikipedia: Certain plot summaries or trivia elements may be sourced from Wikipedia. Such content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License (CC BY-SA 3.0).
• Posters and Trailers: Movie posters and promotional trailers remain the intellectual property of their respective studios and creators. They are used on this Site under the principles of fair use for informational and review purposes.

5. User Conduct

By using ThumbScore, you agree NOT to:

• Use automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or spiders to indiscriminately harvest data or mass-download content from the Site without explicit permission.
• Attempt to bypass or interfere with any security features, rate limits, or CDN protections (e.g., Cloudflare) protecting the Site.
• Use the Site in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international laws.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or hack the Site infrastructure.

We reserve the right to temporarily or permanently block IP addresses that exhibit malicious or abusive behavior.

6. Accounts

Browsing ThumbScore needs no account. To keep your ratings and get predicted scores you can create a free account with Google or an email address. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with your account. You can download your data or delete your account at any time on your Account page.

7. Your Ratings, Words and Reviews

Your ratings and the words you write about films are yours, and they are private unless you choose to post your words as a public review under a film. By posting a review you allow ThumbScore to show it on that film's page, with the public name you choose; you can remove it at any time. Reviews may be checked before they appear, and we may decline or remove any that are spam, abusive or hateful, share someone's personal information, contain links, or break the law.

8. Links to Third-Party Sites

ThumbScore acts as a portal linking to external streaming services, review sites, and informational resources. We have no control over the content, terms of service, or privacy policies of these third-party websites. You acknowledge and agree that ThumbScore is not responsible or liable for any damages or losses caused by your use of any external site.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ThumbScore and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Site.

The Site is provided on an "AS-IS" and "AS-AVAILABLE" basis, without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

10. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
