Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a 2021 American supernatural comedy directed by Jason Reitman, son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman. Mckenna Grace stars as Phoebe Spengler, a scientifically gifted 12-year-old who moves with her mother and brother to a dilapidated Oklahoma farmhouse inherited from her late grandfather โ Egon Spengler, the original Ghostbuster played by the late Harold Ramis. When Phoebe discovers her grandfather's ghost-catching equipment and a supernatural threat connected to his reasons for moving to Oklahoma, she must continue his work alongside local podcast host "Podcast" and schoolteacher Mr.
Grooberson, played by Paul Rudd. Afterlife was a loving tribute to the 1984 original, treating the material with reverence and genuine emotion โ the climactic appearance of Egon's ghost, realized through digital effects and archival footage, provided a moving farewell to Harold Ramis, who had died in 2014. Ghostbusters: Afterlife earned $204 million worldwide on a $75 million budget.
