Hotel Transylvania 2 is a 2015 American computer-animated comedy directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the sequel to the 2012 hit. Adam Sandler returns as Count Dracula, who worries that his half-human, half-vampire grandson Dennis may not develop vampire abilities. While Mavis and Johnny visit California to consider raising Dennis in the human world, Dracula and his monster friends attempt to bring out the boy's inner monster through increasingly dangerous challenges.
Mel Brooks joined the cast as Vlad, Dracula's ancient, traditionalist father whose arrival threatens to expose Dracula's acceptance of humans. Genndy Tartakovsky's animation was even more expressive and kinetic than the first film, with the climactic sequence featuring Dennis finally revealing his vampire powers proving a crowd-pleasing payoff. Hotel Transylvania 2 earned $473 million worldwide on a $80 million budget, confirming the franchise's global commercial appeal.
