Kick-Ass 2 is a 2013 American superhero comedy directed by Jeff Wadlow, the sequel to Matthew Vaughn's 2010 original. Aaron Taylor-Johnson returns as Dave Lizewski, who has inspired a wave of ordinary citizens to become masked vigilantes and joins a team of amateur heroes led by Colonel Stars and Stripes, played by Jim Carrey, a born-again ex-mobster. Meanwhile, Chris D'Amico, the son of the crime boss Kick-Ass killed, played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse, reinvents himself as a supervillain called The Motherfucker and assembles his own team of criminals to destroy Kick-Ass and everything he represents.
Chloë Grace Moretz's Hit-Girl, now a high schooler attempting to live a normal life at the insistence of her guardian, struggled with the Mean Girls-style social warfare of teenage cliques. Jim Carrey, despite disowning the film after the Sandy Hook shooting due to its violence, delivered an entertainingly committed performance. Kick-Ass 2 earned $60 million worldwide on a $28 million budget.
