- Eagle-eyed viewers have noticed a hidden easter egg referencing Darren Lynn Bousman's previous film in the background of the opening scene.
- Many of the practical effects used in the climax were achieved without any CGI.
- During the filming of Saw II, Tobin Bell improvised one of the most famous lines in the movie.
Saw II is a 2005 American horror film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, the sequel to James Wan's 2004 original. When a SWAT team led by Detective Eric Matthews, played by Donny Wahlberg, captures the Jigsaw Killer, now revealed as the terminally ill John Kramer played by Tobin Bell, they discover a live video feed showing eight people โ including Matthews's teenage son โ trapped in a house being slowly poisoned by a nerve agent. The victims must find antidotes hidden within deadly traps throughout the house within two hours or die.
Saw II expanded the franchise's mythology significantly, with Tobin Bell's extended screen time allowing him to develop Jigsaw from a shadowy threat into a philosophical, articulate antagonist who viewed his traps as therapeutic interventions. The twist ending, which revealed a devastating misdirection about the timeline of the house footage, maintained the franchise's tradition of gut-punch conclusions. Saw II earned $147 million worldwide on a $4 million budget.
