Where to Watch
- During the filming of The Fugitive, Harrison Ford improvised one of the most famous lines in the movie.
- Before Harrison Ford was cast, several major A-list stars turned down the lead role because they felt the script was too risky.
- Andrew Davis originally wanted a completely different ending for the film, but test audiences preferred the one we see today.
The Fugitive is a 1993 American action thriller directed by Andrew Davis. Harrison Ford stars as Dr. Richard Kimble, a vascular surgeon wrongly convicted of his wife's murder and sentenced to death, who escapes during a prison transport bus crash and a subsequent train derailment.
While desperately searching for the one-armed man he saw fleeing the scene of his wife's murder, Kimble must evade the relentless pursuit of U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard, played by Tommy Lee Jones, whose dogged, brilliant investigative skills make him the most dangerous pursuer Kimble could face. The train crash and the subsequent dam jump β Harrison Ford leaping from the top of a dam into the churning water hundreds of feet below β were among the most spectacular practical stunts of the 1990s.
Tommy Lee Jones won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Gerard, whose professional admiration for Kimble's intelligence grew as the chase continued. The Fugitive earned $368 million worldwide on a $44 million budget.
