The Hitman's Bodyguard is a 2017 American action comedy directed by Patrick Hughes. Ryan Reynolds stars as Michael Bryce, a disgraced AAA-rated executive protection agent, who is reluctantly assigned to escort Darius Kincaid, a notorious hitman played by Samuel L. Jackson, from England to the International Court of Justice in The Hague to testify against a brutal Eastern European dictator played by Gary Oldman.
The mismatched pair β Bryce is meticulous and risk-averse, Kincaid is reckless and gleefully violent β bicker and battle their way across Europe while dodging assassination attempts. The film was built entirely on the chemistry between Reynolds and Jackson, whose contrasting comedic styles β Reynolds's sardonic, rapid-fire delivery against Jackson's profane, explosive energy β created an entertaining buddy dynamic. Salma Hayek stole her scenes as Kincaid's imprisoned wife Sonia, whose violent temper surpassed even her husband's.
The Hitman's Bodyguard earned $176 million worldwide on a $30 million budget.
