AVP: Alien vs. Predator is a 2004 American science fiction action film directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.
When a satellite detects a mysterious heat bloom beneath the Antarctic ice, a team of archaeologists, scientists, and mercenaries led by Alexa Woods, played by Sanaa Lathan, discovers an ancient pyramid that serves as a proving ground for young Predators โ who must hunt and kill Aliens to earn their warrior status. The humans find themselves caught between the two iconic movie monsters, and Alexa must form an uneasy alliance with a surviving Predator to escape the pyramid alive. AVP was the realization of a crossover that fans had imagined since the Alien skull appeared in Predator 2's trophy case in 1990, and the franchise merger delivered on the spectacle of seeing the two creatures battle.
The PG-13 rating disappointed fans hoping for R-rated intensity. AVP earned $172 million worldwide on a $60 million budget.
