When Ben's wife, who has been hospitalized for bipolar disorder, dies by suicide, the family must travel to New Mexico for the funeral, bringing their unconventional lifestyle into direct collision with mainstream society and forcing Ben to confront whether his parenting has actually prepared his children for the world or merely isolated them from it.
