Grown Ups is a 2010 American comedy directed by Dennis Dugan. Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider star as five childhood friends and former basketball teammates who reunite with their families at a lake house after their beloved coach dies. The weekend together forces the men to confront their midlife mediocrity — Sandler's Hollywood agent, James's overweight underachiever, Rock's henpecked husband, Spade's aging bachelor, and Schneider's new-age enthusiast — while their children, all addicted to technology and lacking basic outdoor skills, are forced to unplug and play outside.
Grown Ups was critic-proof in the most literal sense — reviews were overwhelmingly negative, but the combination of five recognizable comedy stars in a family-friendly summer comedy was irresistible to audiences. The film earned $271 million worldwide on a $80 million budget, making it one of Adam Sandler's highest-grossing films.
