Ralph Breaks the Internet is a 2018 American animated comedy produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph. When the steering wheel controller for Sugar Rush breaks, Ralph and Vanellope must travel through a newly installed Wi-Fi router into the internet to find a replacement part on eBay. Their journey through the digital landscape takes them through search engines, social media platforms, the dark web, and a Disney website where Vanellope encounters all the Disney Princesses in a viral fan-favorite scene.
The film's depiction of the internet as a vast, commercialized cityscape — with pop-up ads as street hawkers, viruses as digital pathogens, and algorithms as invisible forces directing traffic — was inventive and visually stunning. The Disney Princess scene, in which the princesses bond with Vanellope in casual modern clothing and self-aware dialogue that poked fun at their own tropes, became the film's most discussed and merchandised element.
