2 Fast 2 Furious is a 2003 American action film directed by John Singleton, the sequel to The Fast and the Furious. Paul Walker returns as Brian O'Conner, now a fugitive from the law after letting Dom Toretto escape, who is recruited by U.S. Customs to go undercover in Miami and bring down drug lord Carter Verone, played by Cole Hauser.
Brian recruits his childhood friend Roman Pearce, played by Tyrese Gibson in his franchise debut, as his partner. John Singleton, the acclaimed director of Boyz n the Hood, brought a visual flair to the Miami setting โ the film's sun-drenched pastel aesthetic, elaborate boat chase sequences, and street racing through the city's neon-lit nightlife gave the franchise a distinctly different visual identity from the original's Los Angeles grit. Tyrese Gibson's Roman Pearce, brash and funny with a chip on his shoulder about Brian's law enforcement betrayal, added a buddy-comedy dynamic that would become central to the franchise's appeal.
Eva Mendes co-starred as an undercover customs agent. 2 Fast 2 Furious earned $236 million worldwide on a $76 million budget.
