Alien: Romulus is a 2024 American science fiction horror film directed by Fede Alvarez, set between the events of Alien and Aliens. Cailee Spaeny stars as Rain Carradine, a young colonist on a remote mining moon who, along with a group of young workers desperate to escape their corporate-indentured servitude, boards a derelict space station in orbit that they hope contains the cryogenic chambers they need to reach another colony. Instead, they discover the station has been used by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation for xenomorph research, and the dormant aliens awaken to hunt the young intruders through the station's dark corridors and zero-gravity environments.
Fede Alvarez, who had proven his horror credentials with Evil Dead, brought a claustrophobic, genuinely terrifying intensity that many critics considered the franchise's best since Aliens. The zero-gravity facehugger scene was one of the franchise's most inventively staged horror sequences. Alien: Romulus earned $350 million worldwide on a $80 million budget.
