Bad Boys for Life is a 2020 American action comedy directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett 17 years after Bad Boys II. When Mike is targeted by the son of a Mexican cartel leader seeking revenge for his imprisoned mother, Marcus must postpone his retirement to help his partner survive.

The Belgian directing duo brought fresh visual energy while honoring the franchise's established tone of explosive action and buddy comedy chemistry. The film explored the characters' aging — Marcus's desire to retire and become a grandfather, Mike's secret past catching up with him — adding unexpected emotional depth. Bad Boys for Life earned $426 million worldwide on a $90 million budget, becoming the franchise's highest-grossing entry and one of the last major theatrical hits before COVID-19 shuttered cinemas weeks later.
