John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum is a 2019 American neo-noir action thriller directed by Chad Stahelski. Picking up immediately after Chapter 2's cliffhanger, the film follows John Wick, with a $14 million global contract on his head and declared "excommunicado" from the Continental hotel system after killing on hotel grounds, as he fights his way through New York City with every assassin in the world hunting him. With only one hour before the contract activates, Wick calls in his last remaining favors to survive and find a path to redemption.
Parabellum elevated the franchise's action choreography to extraordinary new heights, with sequences including a knife-throwing fight in an antique weapons store, a motorcycle battle across the Brooklyn Bridge, a combat scene with attack dogs trained to fight alongside their handlers, and a climactic glass-house showdown that ranks among the most visually stunning fight sequences in cinema history. Halle Berry's addition as Sofia, a fellow assassin with two Belgian Malinois combat dogs, brought one of the film's most memorable action sequences during the Casablanca chase. The world-building continued to expand, introducing the Elder — a figure above even the High Table in the assassin hierarchy — and deepening the mythology of the world's criminal society.
Keanu Reeves, who was 54 during filming, performed the vast majority of his own stunts, including extensive horseback and motorcycle work. John Wick: Chapter 3 earned $327 million worldwide on a $75 million budget, the highest-grossing entry in the franchise at that time.
