Bloodshot (2020)
- The incredible score for Bloodshot was composed in just a few weeks after the original composer dropped out.
- Dave Wilson originally wanted a completely different ending for the film, but test audiences preferred the one we see today.
- Many of the practical effects used in the climax were achieved without any CGI.
Bloodshot is a 2020 American superhero film directed by Dave Wilson, based on the Valiant Comics character. Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a Marine who is killed alongside his wife and resurrected by a corporation called Rising Spirit Technologies using nanite technology that gives him superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to regenerate from any wound. Programmed with false memories of his wife's murder to motivate him into assassinating targets, Ray must break free from his programming and discover the truth about who he really is and why he was chosen.
The film's most interesting idea — that Ray's revenge missions are manufactured simulations designed to weaponize his emotions — was a clever superhero premise that deserved stronger execution. Vin Diesel brought his signature stoic intensity to the role. Bloodshot earned $37 million worldwide on a $45 million budget, its theatrical run severely impacted by COVID-19 theater closures.
