Love and Monsters is a 2020 American monster adventure comedy directed by Michael Matthews. Dylan O'Brien stars as Joel Dawson, a young man living in an underground colony seven years after an asteroid's destruction caused chemical fallout that mutated insects and cold-blooded creatures into enormous, lethal monsters that drove humanity underground. The creature designs were inventive and varied — giant frogs, mutant millipedes, and an enormous crab provided distinct visual threats — and Joel's journey from cowardly bunker-dweller to resourceful survivor was a satisfying character arc.

Michael Rooker appeared as a grizzled surface-dwelling survivalist who teaches Joel monster-fighting techniques.
