Resident Evil: Extinction is a 2007 American science fiction action horror directed by Russell Mulcahy, the third installment. Milla Jovovich returns as Alice, now wandering the wasteland of a post-apocalyptic America where the T-virus has escaped Raccoon City and devastated the entire planet, turning most of humanity into undead. Alice encounters a convoy of survivors led by Claire Redfield, played by Ali Larter, heading to Alaska in search of an infection-free zone, while the Umbrella Corporation โ operating from underground facilities โ continues trying to capture Alice, whose blood may hold the key to a cure.
The post-apocalyptic desert setting, reminiscent of Mad Max, gave the franchise its most visually distinctive entry. The zombie crow attack on the convoy was the film's standout action set piece. Resident Evil: Extinction earned $147 million worldwide on a $45 million budget.
The film expanded the franchise's mythology with new alien hunting grounds and predator types, demonstrating the property's continued creative potential and commercial viability in the global marketplace.
