- Eagle-eyed viewers have noticed a hidden easter egg referencing Shawn Levy's previous film in the background of the opening scene.
- Shawn Levy originally wanted a completely different ending for the film, but test audiences preferred the one we see today.
- During the filming of The Adam Project, Ryan Reynolds improvised one of the most famous lines in the movie.
The Adam Project is a 2022 American science fiction action comedy directed by Shawn Levy. Ryan Reynolds stars as Adam Reed, a time-traveling fighter pilot from the year 2050 who crash-lands in 2022 and encounters his 12-year-old self, played by Walker Scobell, a grieving, bullied kid still processing the recent death of their father. Together, they travel to 2018 to find their father, played by Mark Ruffalo, a physicist whose invention of time travel is being weaponized by a future villain played by Catherine Keener.
Ryan Reynolds's trademark sarcasm was effectively tempered by the film's emotional core β Adam's relationship with his younger self and their shared grief over their father gave the comedy genuine pathos. Walker Scobell's young Adam, who had clearly studied Reynolds's comedic cadence, was an impressive find. Jennifer Garner appeared as their mother.
The Adam Project debuted on Netflix and was viewed by over 92 million hours in its first week.
