Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is a 2023 American superhero film directed by Peyton Reed, the third Ant-Man installment and the film that launched Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly return as Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, who are accidentally sucked into the Quantum Realm โ a subatomic dimension where they discover an entire civilization โ alongside Scott's teenage daughter Cassie, played by Kathryn Newton, Hank Pym, and Janet van Dyne. There, they confront Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, a time-traveling warlord whom Janet had previously imprisoned in the Quantum Realm and who now seeks to escape to conquer the multiverse.
Jonathan Majors's Kang was positioned as the MCU's next overarching villain following Thanos, bringing menacing intelligence and physicality to the role. The Quantum Realm's visual design created an imaginative alien landscape. Quantumania earned $476 million worldwide on a $200 million budget but received the MCU's most negative reviews.
