Creed II is a 2018 American sports drama directed by Steven Caple Jr. Michael B. Jordan returns as Adonis Creed, now the world heavyweight champion, who faces the biggest challenge of his career — a fight against Viktor Drago, played by Florian Munteanu, the son of Ivan Drago, the Russian fighter who killed Adonis's father Apollo Creed in the ring 33 years earlier.
The fight forces Adonis to confront the legacy of his father's death while Viktor and his father Ivan, played again by Dolph Lundgren, seek redemption for the disgrace they suffered after Ivan's loss to Rocky Balboa. Creed II derived its emotional power from the generational weight bearing down on both fighters — Adonis fighting the son of the man who killed his father, Viktor fighting to restore his family's honor and regain his mother's love. Dolph Lundgren's expanded portrayal of the aging, disgraced Ivan Drago added unexpected emotional depth.
Creed II earned $214 million worldwide on a $50 million budget.
