Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a 2023 American science fiction action film directed by Steven Caple Jr., set in 1994 and serving as both a sequel to Bumblebee and a prequel to the original Transformers. Anthony Ramos stars as Noah Diaz, a Brooklyn ex-military electronics expert, and Dominique Fishback as Elena Wallace, an archaeology intern, who become caught in a conflict between the Autobots, the Maximals โ Transformers that take the form of animals, led by Optimus Primal voiced by Ron Perlman โ and the planet-consuming Unicron, whose herald Scourge seeks a powerful artifact hidden on Earth. The introduction of the Maximals from the beloved Beast Wars animated series was the film's most anticipated element.
Peter Cullen returned as the voice of Optimus Prime, and the 1990s setting provided an appealing nostalgic backdrop. Rise of the Beasts earned $439 million worldwide on a $195 million budget.
