For a Few Dollars More (1965)

For a Few Dollars More is a 1965 Italian Spaghetti Western directed by Sergio Leone, the second film in the Dollars Trilogy. Clint Eastwood returns as the Man with No Name, now competing with Colonel Douglas Mortimer, an elegant, pipe-smoking bounty hunter played by Lee Van Cleef, to capture El Indio, a dangerous bandit played by Gian Maria Volonte, who has escaped prison and plans to rob the Bank of El Paso. The two bounty hunters form an uneasy alliance, each with different motivations — the Man wants the $27,000 reward while Mortimer is driven by a deeply personal connection to El Indio's past.

Sergio Leone expanded his visual vocabulary from A Fistful of Dollars, creating more elaborate standoffs, more intricate character dynamics, and a more emotionally resonant story built around Mortimer's hidden tragedy. Ennio Morricone's score, particularly the chiming pocket watch motif that connected the film's revenge storyline, was a masterpiece of narrative scoring.
