Red Sparrow is a 2018 American spy thriller directed by Francis Lawrence. Jennifer Lawrence stars as Dominika Egorova, a Russian prima ballerina whose career-ending injury leads her to be recruited by her intelligence-officer uncle into "Sparrow School," a brutal training program that teaches agents to use psychological manipulation and sexuality as weapons of espionage. Assigned to seduce and extract information from a CIA operative named Nate Nash, played by Joel Edgerton, Dominika must navigate a deadly game of loyalties as she determines whether to serve Russia, defect to America, or pursue her own survival.

Jennifer Lawrence underwent extensive ballet training and committed to the role's demanding physical and psychological dimensions.
