Skyscraper is a 2018 American action thriller directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. Dwayne Johnson stars as Will Sawyer, a former FBI agent and amputee who now works as a security consultant and has been hired to assess the safety of The Pearl, the world's tallest building in Hong Kong at 3,500 feet. When terrorists set the building on fire and seize it with Will's family trapped above the blaze, he must scale the burning exterior using a construction crane, fight through the armed intruders, and rescue his wife and children before the structure collapses.
The film was an unabashed blend of Die Hard and The Towering Inferno, with Dwayne Johnson's character disability β he has a prosthetic leg from a wartime injury β integrated into the action sequences as both an obstacle and occasionally a tool. The exterior climbing sequences, particularly Will's leap from a crane to the building, were vertiginously staged. Skyscraper earned $304 million worldwide on a $125 million budget.
