The Boss Baby is a 2017 American animated comedy produced by DreamWorks Animation and directed by Tom McGrath. Alec Baldwin voices the title character, a suit-wearing, briefcase-carrying baby who arrives at the Templeton household and is secretly an employee of Baby Corp — the corporate headquarters of all babies, located in the sky — on an undercover mission to investigate why puppies are receiving more love than babies worldwide, threatening Baby Corp's market share. Seven-year-old Tim Templeton, voiced by Miles Bakshi, is the only one who recognizes the Boss Baby's true nature and is recruited into the mission when they discover Puppy Co.'s nefarious plan to launch an irresistibly cute Forever Puppy that will make babies obsolete.
The film's inventive premise — babies as a corporate operation complete with board meetings, performance reviews, and middle management — provided a fresh comedic framework for exploring sibling rivalry and the fear of losing parental attention. Alec Baldwin's vocal performance brilliantly channeled his 30 Rock persona as a tough-talking, PowerPoint-presenting executive who happens to be in diapers. Tim's imaginative perspective, frequently depicted through crayon-style fantasy sequences, added visual variety.
The Boss Baby earned $528 million worldwide on a $125 million budget and spawned both a sequel and a Netflix animated series.
