The Wild Robot is a 2024 American animated science fiction film produced by DreamWorks Animation and directed by Chris Sanders. Lupita Nyong'o voices Roz, a robot unit that washes ashore on an uninhabited island after a shipping accident. Programmed to complete tasks, Roz accidentally destroys a goose nest, leaving one surviving egg that hatches and imprints on her.
Roz must learn to raise the gosling, whom she names Brightbill, while adapting to the island's hostile wildlife โ eventually earning the trust of the animals by demonstrating that her programming can evolve beyond her original purpose. Chris Sanders, who had previously directed Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, brought his exceptional ability to craft emotionally devastating parent-child stories to The Wild Robot, creating one of the most moving animated films in years.
