Clash of the Titans is a 2010 American fantasy action film directed by Louis Leterrier, a remake of the 1981 Ray Harryhausen classic. Sam Worthington stars as Perseus, the demigod son of Zeus who must battle various Greek mythological creatures โ including the monstrous Medusa, giant scorpions, and the sea monster the Kraken โ to save the princess Andromeda and prevent Hades from overthrowing the gods of Olympus. The film was originally shot in 2D and converted to 3D in post-production to capitalize on the success of Avatar, a rush job that produced notoriously poor 3D quality and damaged the film's visual presentation โ it became the poster child for bad 3D conversion and contributed to audience skepticism about the format.
Despite the 3D controversy, Liam Neeson's Zeus and Ralph Fiennes's Hades brought gravitas to the Olympian drama. Clash of the Titans earned $493 million worldwide on a $125 million budget.
