Tomorrowland is a 2015 American science fiction adventure directed by Brad Bird, inspired by the futuristic themed land at Disney theme parks. George Clooney stars as Frank Walker, a disillusioned former boy-genius inventor who was banished from Tomorrowland — a secret dimension where the world's brightest minds build a utopian future — years ago. When optimistic teenager Casey Newton, played by Britt Robertson, discovers a mysterious pin that gives her visions of Tomorrowland, Frank reluctantly agrees to help her reach the city, which has been sealed off by its governor Nix, played by Hugh Laurie, who has given up on humanity's future.

Brad Bird's passionate advocacy for optimism, imagination, and the belief that tomorrow can be better than today gave Tomorrowland an earnest, almost defiant positivity rare in modern blockbusters. The retro-futuristic production design was stunning. The film earned $209 million worldwide on a $190 million budget, a commercial disappointment.
