Transformers: The Last Knight is a 2017 American science fiction action film directed by Michael Bay, his fifth and final Transformers installment. Mark Wahlberg returns as Cade Yeager, who discovers that Transformers have been secretly involved in human history for centuries — from King Arthur's court to World War II — and that an ancient Transformer staff holds the key to saving or destroying Earth. Anthony Hopkins appeared as a British lord who has protected the Transformers' historical secrets for generations, delivering exposition with Shakespearean gravitas.

The film introduced a female lead in Izabella, a young girl living among Transformers in the ruins of Chicago. Michael Bay's final Transformers film pushed the franchise's mythology to its most convoluted extreme, with the Arthurian legend integration representing both the series' most ambitious and most bewildering narrative expansion.
