- The incredible score for TRON: Legacy was composed in just a few weeks after the original composer dropped out.
TRON: Legacy is a 2010 American science fiction action film directed by Joseph Kosinski in his feature debut. Jeff Bridges reprises his role from the 1982 original as Kevin Flynn, a brilliant software engineer who has been trapped inside his own computer-generated world, the Grid, for over 20 years. His son Sam, played by Garrett Hedlund, discovers the Grid and enters the digital world to find his father, encountering a digitally de-aged version of Kevin who has become Clu, a totalitarian program ruling the Grid with an iron fist.
TRON: Legacy was a visual and sonic experience designed for IMAX and surround sound β Joseph Kosinski's sleek, minimalist design aesthetic transformed the Grid into a world of luminous neon lines against vast black spaces, while Daft Punk's electronic score, blending their signature French house sound with orchestral elements, was one of the most acclaimed film soundtracks of the decade. The lightcycle sequence was the film's centerpiece action set piece. The de-aging technology applied to Jeff Bridges to create the younger Clu was groundbreaking if imperfect.
TRON: Legacy earned $400 million worldwide on a $170 million budget.
