The 2000s was a wild transition period for cinema. CGI started to take over, fantasy epics like *Lord of the Rings* set new standards, and comedy got raunchier than ever before. It was a decade where audiences were often lightyears ahead of the critics.

We rank the 2000s based solely on what the viewers thought. Critics loved to punish the ambitious, polarizing films of this era, but the audience score tells the real truth about what endured the test of time.

These are the best movies of the 2000s, according to the people who matter.
