The Best War Movies on MGM+

War films ask a lot of an audience: the scale, the losses, the history they carry. The best of them earn every minute, and the ones critics call masterpieces are not always the ones viewers sit through twice.

MGM+ streams much of the MGM and United Artists library. These are its war movies that audiences rated highest.

Every film on this list earned its place with real audiences, whether it is a battle epic, a quiet story of the people left at home, or the true account of a single mission.

Every movie on this list is ranked by ThumbScore — the percentage of everyday people who liked the film. No critic gatekeeping, no algorithmic manipulation. Just real audience verdicts.
