Documentaries are the genre where critics and audiences actually tend to agree the most. But there are still hidden gems that fly under the radar and crowd-pleasers that critics undervalue.
Prime Video's library is enormous and chaotic. Half the catalog feels like it was uploaded by robots. But buried in the noise are some genuinely great documentary films if you know where to look.
These documentaries earned their rankings from real viewers. Whether they're eye-opening, heartbreaking, or mind-blowing, they all deliver.
Every movie on this list is ranked by ThumbScore — the percentage of everyday people who liked the film. No critic gatekeeping, no algorithmic manipulation. Just real audience verdicts.
